Halimah: Presidential Scholarship Recipients should Cultivate the Ability to Unify the Nation

There are three Presidential Scholarship recipients this year - among them is 19-year-old Edison Chua Jia Zhi, who will be going to the United States to study economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Edison Chua, a graduate of the Hwa Chong Institution (HCI), is also awarded the Singapore Police Force Scholarship. He actively participated in the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) activities in school and held various leadership roles in school, such as the treasurer of the football team.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he joined the Overseas Community Involvement Programme, teaching English online to students from different provinces in China. Edison believes that it is very meaningful to able to help those around him acquire new knowledge.

During his studies in the U.S., Edison plans to actively participate in local community activities. After graduating, he will join the Singapore Police Force, hoping to make a meaningful contribution to Singapore's safety and defense.
