Scam Alert: Impersonation phone calls attempting to illegally impersonate Singapore Chinese High School/ 华侨中学
We have been alerted to incidents where members of the public, such as renovation contractors and curtain makers, have received phone calls from individuals impersonating teachers or staff of the Singapore Chinese High School /华侨中学.
These scam phone calls exhibit the following characteristics:
• The calls are made from unknown numbers, either local or with prefix “+60; +61 etc ” suggesting these are overseas numbers. Please note that SCHS’ official local contact number is +65 88190321 and SCHS does not call from overseas.
• The callers invite contractors or vendors to bid on renovation or refurbishment jobs (e.g., for curtains) but ask that the vendors first purchase materials (e.g., paint) from specific suppliers.
If you receive such calls, please be vigilant and follow these precautions:
• Ignore the call and do not answer it.
• Do not transfer any money to the caller, whether through remittance agencies, banks, or any other means.
• Do not provide any personal information, such as your name, identification number, passport number, bank account details, credit card details, or one-time passwords (OTP).
If you have any information related to such incidents, please call the anti-scam hotline at 1800 722 6688. If you have been scammed, promptly make a police report.
