On 7 and 8 October, Ms Linda Lee (Principal), Mr Mike Lam (Deputy Director, Admin Ops) and Ms Esther Zhang (Head of Admissions & Student Services) attended the Korea International Education and Emigration Fair at COEX in Seoul.

With 233 exhibitors from around the world representing high schools and universities in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and others, it was the biggest annual education fair in Korea. Participation in the fair gave us a first-hand gauge of the competitive international school market.

Our school received warm reception from many families who were keen to send their children to HCIS, having heard good reviews from family members, friends and business associates. Besides the school’s strong IBDP results, many parents were drawn by its boarding school facility within the school campus. It also helped that our agent, Shinseki, has been promoting our school aggressively over the years.

The following day was spent conducting admission and scholarship tests, including interview sessions for all applicants.

It was fruitful as we witnessed how the quality of applicants has improved significantly due to a greater awareness of the school and its strong reputation in value-add, offering quality education while providing holistic care in its boarding school.

On 10 October, the team paid a courtesy visit to Pai Chai High School. They were greeted by the new Principal, Mr Lee Hyojun.

Last year, HCIS sent 2 delegations to Pai Chai High School in April and November and following that, HCIS students visited Pai Chai High School during the HCIS Internationalism Week in May 2023. We are grateful to Mr Lee for his gracious hospitality, hosting our students and staff, all of whom returned to Singapore with fond memories.

This year, both Principals went on to discuss about the school curriculum and our scholarship offering. Mr Lee mooted the idea of a Pai Chai student exchange to HCIS in 2024, which we are looking forward to hosting.

After the meeting, Mr Lee hosted the team to a sumptuous Korean lunch, bonding further over food and kimchi. The team also took time to catch up with other agent representatives in Korea. We are definitely looking forward to healthy enrolment numbers and stronger partnerships with our partners from Korea.
