From 24 to 27 Oct 2023, Ms Linda Lee (Principal), Mr Mike Lam (Deputy Director, Admin Ops) and Ms Dinh Linh were in Vietnam to conduct the inaugural scholarship assessments for Vietnamese students.

This was a follow up from the introductory session we had after linking up with Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training (DoET) in April this year. With the blessing of DoET, the scholarship was widely promoted in Vinh Phuc and as a result, 7 students from the Vinh Phuc School of Gifted were shortlisted for the test.

At the same time, our agent Nhat Anh Education and Training Consultancy Company also successfully recruited 8 students for the scholarship test, with 6 eventually shortlisted by our School.

Interviews and assessments for 3 Hanoi-based applicants were conducted over 2 days. It was a fruitful exercise. Candidates were of high calibre, with strong academic and non-academic credentials.

The team then went on to Vinh Phuc province which was 2 hours away from Hanoi. At the test venue, Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Thu, Representative of Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training, Mr. Phan Duong Can, Vice-Principal of Vinh Phuc High School For The Gifted, and supported by 3 teachers from the English department. The written test and interview sessions went on smoothly.

The team was hosted to lunch at the canteen and had a short tour of the campus. The school campus is modern and huge with facilities to cater for 1000 students and 300 boarders.

Overall, it was a successful scholarship launch in Vietnam. We are delighted to be in partnership with Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training (DoET) and with the support of our agent Nhat Anh. Both collaborations have extended our outreach, whether in terms of promoting our scholarship programme or more importantly, marketing HCIS.

From this trip, we successfully awarded a full scholarship to Dao Nhat Minh, a student from Hanoi for his 3 years of studies in HCIS from January 2024.
