On January 17th, Ms. Linda Lee (Principal) and Mr. Mike Lam (Deputy Director, Admin Ops) journeyed to Brunei to oversee the annual scholarship assessment for candidates from our enduring partner schools: Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) in Kuala Belait (KB), CHMS in Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), and St. Andrew’s School. Six students were identified in the shortlist.
The academic assessments in three subjects, along with interviews and dialogue sessions, enabled us to understand each candidate’s aspirations, assess their eligibility for the scholarship, and grasp their family context and support. This comprehensive process not only left a positive impression of our school but also showcased HCIS’s generosity and our sincerity in acknowledging candidates’ achievements and potential.
Principal Linda visited Jerudong International School (JIS) on January 18, where Mr. Nicholas Sheehan, the school’s principal, warmly welcomed her. JIS, a K-12 institution serving both local and expat communities in Brunei, provides IGCSE, A-level, and IB programs. During the visit, they exchanged ideas on implementing the IB curriculum, discussed green initiatives within the school community, and explored creative approaches to learning spaces, in addition to a campus tour.
We always find joy in connecting with our partner schools, as the trust and close bonds developed over the years create an ideal environment for students to achieve their educational aspirations and life goals.
