HCIS sets new groundbreaking record, achieving unprecedented IB quality results amid challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
Hwa Chong International School (HCIS) is extremely excited to announce groundbreaking success in this year’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) results for the 2021 IB examinations, marking a year of outstanding academic achievements for the IB graduating cohort of 120 students.
Overcoming the many challenges posed by the pandemic, HCIS continues to maintain its drive to deliver quality outcomes in student learning by going on to achieve its best ever IB results since the school was established. HCIS celebrates the attainment of the perfect score of 45 points by 6 students. On top of that, as many as 14 students scored 44 points, yet another notable feat and new record set by the cohort.
This year, HCIS is delighted to report a perfect IBDP pass rate of 100%, with the average score reaching a new high of 39.6 points.
With great pride, we are elated to share that an impressive 69.2% of the 2021 graduating cohort scored at least 38 points, a new historic record for HCIS, with a spectacular 51.7% achieving 40 points and above, which strongly positions these students to qualify for admissions into top-tiered universities worldwide. The stellar results are especially commendable given that the students had faced two very challenging years filled with uncertainty and disruption amid the COVID-19 pandemic since the start of their IB journey.
Our students have excelled through their commitment, fortitude and hard work, coupled with the unceasing support of our dedicated group of teachers. HCIS is especially appreciative of how well the students have managed their studies in what had been another very testing academic year and went on to do the school and their parents proud.
We are very heartened to witness the growth and development of our students over the years as they achieve exceptional progress and improvement in their academic performance regardless of their ability or starting point, to be holistic learners. Among our top achievers this year, were many who joined us with average academic scores. HCIS’ core strength of value-add to student learning to help students realize their true potential is best reflected its educational philosophy of “Education for All, According to Each”.
Last but not least, we would like to express our utmost gratitude and appreciation to the 2020-2021 Board of Directors for their unwavering support and unfaltering trust in us. Not only have their guidance and dynamic approaches been absolutely instrumental in the growth and success of HCIS, their contributions and selfless dedication never fail to inspire and motivate us to continue to do our best and beyond in our pursuit of excellence 自强不息.
With the very remarkable results this year, HCIS looks forward to even higher goals as it gathers momentum to be a leading IB World School, with a mission to build capability and develop character in students to become independent, innovative and international-minded learners of tomorrow.
