Exploring the Singaporean Chinese Identity

Do you remember the iconic drama series such as “Samsui Women” and “The Awakening”? Join us for an engaging workshop where we delve into the evolution and transformation of the identity and culture of Singaporean Chinese through the lens of locally produced drama series.

Professor Xiang Li, a distinguished scholar from the Communication University of China and Nanyang Technological University, will present her research findings on the cultural development and identity of Singapore’s Chinese community as depicted in local drama series spanning from 1982 to 2016. With seven years of dedicated research, Professor Xiang Li, a former news anchor from China’s CCTV, offers invaluable insights for new immigrants and anyone intrigued by Singaporean culture.

Please note that this workshop will be conducted in Chinese and has limited slots available. All are welcome, and admission is free!
